Khimera Breeding - Genetics: Enigmas

tl;dr - Rainbow Engimas add a multicolored pattern to a khimera's base color, patterns, or variations. When breeding two khimeras with Enigma markings, you will get a variety of Enigma patterns that fall between the two parents' Enigma numbers, which you can look up in the Enigma Index, under Resources in the main navigation. You can add specific Enigma patterns via the custom demo or pattern addition/change potioons, with an additional fee, specific Enigma variations by using Mini Enigma Essences (cash shop) and specific full-body Enigmas by using an Enigma Essence (Cash Shop). You can get random full-body enigma markings via the Wishing Well when Enigmas are active in the Well (if you have access). You do not need to know all the ins and outs of how Enigmas work to have fun breeding them :)

Rainbow enigma is a fun feature that affects khimeras with rainbow base color. It can also be applied to patterns and variations. When you breed two khimeras that both have the enigma marking, there can be a wide variety of potential outcomes in their offspring due to the extensive library of enigma markings.

Full-body rainbow enigma is added by entering a number between 101 and the current upper range of Enigma varieties (see the Enigma Index under Resources in the main site navigation) into the opacity box in the custom demo.

Rainbow Enigma

A full-body Rainbow marking can have an opacity anywhere from 1 to 100 and it will always show up with the same rainbow pattern.

A Rainbow pattern with an Enigma applied to it will have an opacity of 101 or higher. Each opacity number correlates to a different Enigma variation, which can be found here.

To get offspring with the full range of Rainbow Enigma patterns, you will need two Rainbow Enigma parents, one with enigma 101 and one with the current highest pattern number (new patterns are added periodically). The offspring will have a random opacity assigned to them between and including the parents' enigmas.

If you only want the offspring to have Enigmas within a certain range, for example between 255 and 278, create one parent with Enigma 255 and the other with Enigma 278.

If you breed a basic Rainbow khimera to a Rainbow Enigma khimera, the offspring will always take after the basic parent and have an opacity of 100.

If you breed a Rainbow Enigma khimera to a khimera that has NO rainbow marking, you will most likely get a faded rainbow.

To apply an enigma to a rainbow marking, you will need an Enigma Essence. You can use them in the custom demo or by clicking on the item in your inventory and applying to a khimera. They are available in the Cash Shop.

Otherwise, you can add a random Enigma by taking your khimera to the Wishing Well when the Enigma event is active (search "Wishing Well" in the news to see what's current!). Any khimera with a full-body Rainbow marking is eligible to to turn into a Rainbow Enigma if you have Well access. For more information, please check the Wishing Well.

Enigma Markings

You can also apply an Enigma to any variation, including any Serum marking! These do work a little differently than full-body Rainbow, however.

There are two ways to apply an Enigma to patterns. The first is to create a khimera the Custom Demo. Within the HEX color field, type in "rrr" + any Enigma #. So, for example, rrr175 will cause that pattern to have the corresponding enigma variety that you can see in the Enigma Index. There is a 5 bead charge for this. (You can also add a simple rainbow, rrr100, to a pattern at no charge)

The second is to use a Pattern Addition or Change potion. As with the Custom Demo you will need to input "rrr###" into the color field. There will be a 5 bead additional charge for markings added with an Enigma.

When you breed two khimeras with the same marking and both have enigmas applied to those markings, the marking in the offspring will always have an enigma. Rainbow Enigma patterns work the same way as full-body Enigmas with regards to passing down to offspring, with the following exception. If you breed a khimera with an Enigma pattern to a khimera with a normal pattern (same marking), there is a small chance to pass on a basic Rainbow marking, however, usually the color will be blended with a random hex.

Mini Enigmas (Variation Enigmas)

You can use a Mini Enigma Essence to give your khimera an enigma on visible variations (see vintage bases in the demo) through the demo, or added later by clicking on the item in your inventory.

When available, they can be found in the Cash Shop. This essence is for variations that are specified in the Khimera's genetics. You can test this in the Custom Demo.

If you breed two khimeras that have matching Enigma Variations, the offspring will have an Enigma within the parents' Enigma range. An Enigma and a basic Rainbow variation can also mix to give Enigma offspring!

If you breed a Khimera that has an Enigma variation to a Khimera that does NOT have one, there is a small chance to get an Enigma variation; otherwise, a random color will blend with the enigma-less parents variation color to determine the offspring's variation color.
