Oh what a long and weary trail for a little ocelot! Surely something nefarious is afoot, for it seems impossible that Pyro would travel so far from home and risk setting the forest on fire of his own free will! What will I do if I find he has been kidnapped? Onyx worried. I'm not big like Khistopher or strong like Laskai. How will I ever be able to free him all by myself? Just then, she came to a break in the trees and entered a fresh green glade flowering with beautiful spring blossoms and swirling with flutterbyes. Oh, she thought, this is a wonderful place to rest for a few minutes! She trotted out of a patch of long grass and lo and behold, she was met with a wondrous sight! She stared in wide-eyed wonder. Surely this must be among the mightiest of men, for only the mightiest of men wore the Mark of Laskai, a posey of flowers woven into his beard! "Oh hello," she said, "I don't believe we've ever met! I am Onyx, proprietor of the Tea Shoppe at the Center of the Universe. Who are you?" "Hello, hello!" he replied, momentarily so startled at the sight of her that he almost dropped his axe, and sent the flutterbyes into a tizzy. "I'm the Whimsical Woodsman, Warden of the Forest. I protect all of Khimeros' forest lands from fire and destruction." Uhhhh ooooooooooh, thought Onyx. "Oh dear," she said. "I have a feeling that you and I are on the same trail. My friend Pyro has gone missing from Khimeros Central and I think he's been kidnapped. He really doesn't mean to start fires, he is made of fire himself so he just can't help it!" "Ah!" said the Woodsman. "You are correct, I have been tracking just such an embarr! I am glad to know that he has been taken against his will and is not leaving such destruction behind him on purpose!" Onyx was sure that Pyro, too, would be happy that this information had been shared before the Woodsman caught up to him! "I have an idea," she said. "Why don't we join forces and track him together. I could use your help!" "Certainly," he said, "give me a moment to send word to the fire station. There is a glade that I passed that must be cleaned up, I have dug a fire break but we must be sure that all fire and debris is removed." With that, he whispered to the swarm of flutterbyes that surrounded him, and they all flew off in a cloud to the south. As they left the glade together, Onyx spotted a gleam of metal among the foliage. It looked like.... a busted guitar string? Now what in the world was that doing way out here in the middle of nowhere?? **** A swarm of flutterbyes appears in Khimeros Central, informing all Khimairans that they should divert immediately from the Spring Pasture and head to the endangered glade using the west-central portal stone (aka the World menu) to help clean up more fiery debris! --------------------- We are happy to welcome the Whimsical Woodsman as an official NPC to khimeros! If you ever want to see the staff again, you might want to pick up those delicious little chocolate bonbons that are raining down in the chat and bring them to me in the mountains. I may reward you with a few trinkets as added incentive... eh.... in the cause of chocolate (and to remind you which NPC is the best) I guess I can boost the number of trinkets I give out for the items you bring me... 5 Comments

As part of the aforementioned changes to the site, we hope you will enjoy our first immersive event, which will run for the next two months. We present to you the opening chapter of... Finding Pyro "Goodbye, goodbye!" said Onyx distractedly as she looked over her shoulder toward Khistopher, standing on the front stoop of the Tea Shoppe at the Center of the Universe. "Please don't forget to give Neko her tuna! I'll be back soon!" Khistopher gave a roar of farewell as the little rainbow ocelot trotted off into the forest. "I'm going to wring Pyro's neck when I find him!" she muttered. "So much work to do and now I have to go running off after a lazy embarr who is shirking his duty in the games room! Not to mention creating a fire hazard out in the forest!" At least his trail will be easy to follow, she thought as she picked up the scent of smoke. All day she travelled, and as she began to catch sight of patches of scorched earth and a burned shrub or two, she began to worry. Would Pyro really come so far on his own? He had never run off this way before. She grew more worried as she entered a particularly thick grove and noticed embers and burning branches on the ground. Oh dear! She thought. This could cause a massive forest fire if we don't do something about it! Spotting a blackbird swooping by, she called to it. "Please spread the word!" she called. "Ask all the residents of khimeros central to head out here and pick up these burning branches and saplings!" The bird twittered an affirmative and flew off back down the trail. ******** A red-winged blackbird flies up to you and asks you to head out to the forest to collect these burning items for the safety of all Khimairans! 6 Comments
