Gathering up alllllllll her courage, Fluffy entered the cave she found amoung the rocky crags. She heard what sounded like whimpering and saw a blur of pale fluffy fur ahead in the gloom. Slowly she approached and saw that there were three of the strange, not-quite-lambkin creatures she had spotted several times in her travels.

"He-hello?" she said tentatively. "I wonder if you could-"

She stopped with a gasp as the three figures turned reluctantly to face her.



Shock rippled through poor Fluffy's body! For she recognized the three monsters even though the faces of wolves now peered out from under the tattered lamkskin coats! Somehow these halfling creatures were Bouncy... Bell... and Fifi, her three lost friends!



Then she realized that it wasn't just the shock of discovering the gruesome secret - her body really was rippling and twitching! Suddenly, she felt her tail and muzzle elongate and her hooves turn to paws! Her wooly coat tore down the middle of her belly!



In a few moments, she understood everything. She was not a lambkin anymore, but a WISC! Her friends had not turned into monsters, they had only undergone the natural evolution that nature had intended for them!

"We're sorry we worried you," Bell exclaimed. "But we were afraid that we would frighten you and we knew that you wouldn't understand until your own time had come. We are so glad that you can finally join our pack!"

The reunited friends laughed and cavorted happily together, then set off at a run back toward Thimble's cottage. If they frightened any shepherds, blew down any porcine houses or encountered any red caped little girls on the way, I cannot say.
